Film & Digital - We offer professional film and digital photography services. The choice of film or digital depends on the type of project requiring photography and the final use of the images.

Film - For the best results we recommend 4x5 film format because it allows for the correction of perspectives which is crucial when photographing architecture. By correcting perspectives we are able to ensure that all vertical and horizontal line of your structure are straight in the photograph. Other camera formats, including 35mm and medium format, do not have the same control of movements. The end result is a high quality 4x5 transparency or negative that retains its detail and sharpness when enlarged. If you are considering getting your project published we highly recommend 4x5 film. Many magazines require the original film when publishing photographs. We also offer in-house, high quality scans of your film (please see Post-Production).

Digital - We generally use digital for small projects that clients want documented but not necessarily published. We use a professional digital SLR system. With digital we can quickly shoot a number of views using available light. The end result is a high quality, colour-corrected TIF.

Lighting - Part of getting good photographs is lighting the space well. This is the most time consuming aspect of photographing any project. Since 4x5 film surpasses digital SLR in quality, we use 4x5 film when lighting a space. We do not use additional lighting for projects done on digital. We light with both strobe and tungsten, choosing the lighting that best suits the space.
